ColorMarq alphanumeric color logic
utilizes a different color for each number, 0 - 9, and for each letter, A-Z.
From 001.11 to 999.99 or from AC1 to Z8990 there is a unique color combination.
If a book is mis-shelved in a group even one digit away from where it is
supposed to be it will be noticed. The color bars clearly show what number the
color represents. ColorMarq alphabetic color coding for fiction and other sections, indexed by author, utilizes a different color or color combination for each letter of the alphabet. When using author's last names anywhere from A to Z there are over 17,000 possible combinations of alphabetic color codes when coding to the 3rd letter. The chance of mis-shelving a book is reduced to a fraction of 1%. The color bars clearly show the letter represented.

The ColorMarq Label Placement
Guide application devices simplify label
placement, so that ColorMarq labels can be quickly affixed to book
spines at the exact same height on each book. With every label
applied at the same level on the spine, an even flow of horizontal
color bands is insured for optimum system functionality. Specially
designed clear label shields are included for label protection and
insured color consistency.
